BUREAU PRAXIS

The SAR passenger station connects Sudair Industrial City to Riyadh and is expected to serve 400 passengers a day. The design responds to the two main activities that take place in the station; ARRIVAL-DEPARTURE; two semi-vaults punctuate the station’s rectilinear light and perforated facades and define the station’s two main spaces.

The design draws inspiration from the architectural and spatial characteristics of the Sudair Region. The architectural heritage of Sudair follows that of the Najd region, which is known for its simplicity and functionality in the desert environment. Elements from Sudair’s architecture and nature, such as small openings, lush palm courtyards, and the sinuous curves of alleyways and sand dunes, were driving influences for the geometry and spatial arrangement of Sudair’s new railway station.
